Have you ever spent hours before bed scrolling through your Instagram feed or watching YouTube videos on your phone?
That's right... many times we think that, after a tiring day of work and studies, this is the distraction we need.
But I need to tell you: in reality, this is sabotaging all your learning.
What is hyperstimulation?
Hyperstimulation — that's the name. Well, the problem already has a name. Now I'll explain how it happens.
Spending hours and hours in front of screens before bed has negative consequences, as our brain becomes overstimulated by sounds, colors, and rapid movements.
The problem is that, at this pace, he doesn't enter the state of rest and consolidation that is essential before sleep.
The consequences of overstimulation
Consequently, memory is impaired, attention is reduced, and learning is compromised.
During deep sleep, the brain stores and organizes information. However, with impaired memory, what you studied during the day will not be properly retained.
The next morning, you wake up tired, sleepy, and have difficulty concentrating because your brain has become exhausted from artificial stimuli.
And what is the result? Learning is compromised. Without memory and attention functioning properly, the effort in studying ends up yielding much less.
The distraction that steals your mental energy.
In other words, instead of being a harmless distraction, this habit is stealing your mental energy and sabotaging your learning.
